Academics
I currently serve as an undergraduate student in Auburn University's Horticulture program. Upon starting my journey at Auburn, I have only furthered my passion for plants and all things horticulture. Pursuing an education in plants was a decision that came natural to me, as I knew I wanted to dedicate myself to learning about and protecting the leafy greens of my area and around the world. Studying at Auburn University has given me ample experience in the world of agriculture, especially pertaining to plants. It has offered me a strong foundation of knowledge built from applied experiences and academic discourse. I'm often studying and observing specimens at the molecular level to get a deeper understanding of the beautiful and unique ways in which plants survive and thrive.
I have also been seasoned to the mechanical side of agriculture. Having taken machine engine and welding classes, I was offered firsthand experience at the not-so-pretty sides of horticulture. Getting a base-line understanding of most agricultural practices has successfully allowed me to have a good groundwork of knowledge for any job site I may encounter in the field. These experiences have strengthened my confidence in my abilities and my willingness to succeed in new endeavors, whether or not they are academic. Through my studies I have observed species in their natural environment, having to and succeeding in classifying them into their taxonomic groups. Linked below are a few of my "Nature Notebooks", where my observations were recorded.
So far, my journey at Auburn University has been nothing short of amazing, as I'm sure it will continue to be. Getting to participate in this program at Auburn is a huge accomplishment and one that has helped shape me into the the determined, meticulous, and attentive person I am today. My time at Auburn, though still continuing, has implemented values of perseverance, accountability, and has driven me to be a more articulate and collected individual. My academics have pioneered some of my most valued qualities that I plan to carry through any and all adventures I encounter. With this applied knowledge and experience, I hope to inform others of the beauty around them and encourage them to respect the natural world and its bearings.
Above are some of the many observations/projects I have worked on at Auburn! Included in the photos are wet specimens, field-collected samples, microscopic samples, and projects from my other agriculture classes.
